I Got My Date!!!

Recommended Posts

OMG! I got the call from my doctor's office today! My surgery date is scheduled for 5/14!! I go for my pre-op labs, to see the nutrionist for a final visit, and for my "glamour shots" (my doc takes before and after pics) on 5/9. I am so excited, but then again, all of a sudden I am really scared. I can't believe this is finally happening! :clap2:

Laureli, I'm sorry nobody else answered your post yet. I remember vividly how the experience was for me. I had to go through all the hoops too and it was so exciting when about 8 weeks later my insurance company finally approved. I am considered an average loser at 1 lb a week. I have been banded almost 11 months and I'm down around 50 lbs. Its been tough adding exercise into my routine but I know I can do this. Just remember to follow the lapband diet and drink your Water, take your Vitamins and exercise. You will do great! Congrats on the first step to becoming a healthier you! Julie

Copngratulations! I think it is normal to have so many mixed feelings about the procedure. Just keep looking at why you are choosing this new lifestyle and stay focused! I started my journey about a month before my actual procedure, and I have not looked back once. Best decision ever and I wish you all the best, too!

Awww...thanks so much everyone for your support. I know that it is normal to be scared at this point but I have totally made up my mind to go through with the surgery. I have been researching this for 2 years and I'm ready. I am SO stinkin' excited right now. I really am glad that I found LBT...everyone here has been so great and supportive. I'm sure to have more questions as I start my journey and I know that I can find the answers here!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
