Frustration!

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Just want to vent a little. From the begining i had it in my head that i would be a fast loser, boy was i wrong! Im about 7 weeks out, and i was 23 lbs down until this weekend. I gained 5 lbs this weekend, I started my period, and went to 2 parties. The snack foods were overflowing, and i seemed to have forgotten that "dah you just had weight loss sugery you cant eat all this ,and drink while you eat and not be aware of your eating"

I do so well during the week every week, and on the weekends it so hard to go out with friends and be really good. Im not blameing them , I want to eat badly. I want the chips and salsa and the pizza, its like a reward for doing so good during the week. I know its wrong and i feel so guilty. I have had 2 fills =ing 2.4 cc, and can tell a small differ with the second fill. I still need a little more . I also cant seem to stay consistant with the exercise. One week i might workout 6 day ,the next 1 days. I HATE TO EXERCISE! It is so hard. If anyone has any hint for a fun exercise program please let me know! I read all the weight loss on this sight and see 32lbs in the 1st month and 54 lbs in 8 weeks and i just fell like im never gonna get there. I know it could be worse and i know i need to get better on the weekends its just so hard. I eat about 800-1000 cals a day during the week, and on the weekends its more like 1500-2500. I hope some of this 5lbs is due to my period. I thought that would have lost more like 35 by now, even though they said you will not lose it fast lap bannder's just lose about 1-2 lbs a week. I guess i thought i could do better then that. I lost 10 lbs the 1st week that means in 6 weeks iv only lost 8 lbs now. Sorry for the long post and for spelling errors.

Well first of all dont count your weight as very accurate around your period! Your bound to put on 5 or so pounds just from Water from hormones. It will come back down.

Now about the eating-- I say dont be too hard on yourself. If you are doing well all week and on Sat splurge--so what!?! Remember you got to live with this band. Life goes on and if it your mental way of handling it indulge a little. IF you dont you may end up quitting all together later. I know many body builders do what you are doing just to keep the metabolism going. They eat 3 days low cal, one day high cal, then 3 low, 1 high etc. It can trick your metabolism into high gear or at least keep it from slowing down. Maybe pick one weekend day that your not going to pay attention so much to calories and the other 6 days a week NO CHEATING!

Now about exercise. Gotta do it girl! Get moving at least 5 days a week at least 30 minutes! Good luck

PS I am a very slow loser too and I thing you are doing great thats about 3lbs a week! Jill

You're still new with the band. You'll keep adapting to it over time and learning more. And you'll get sick of undoing your week's work on the weekend. Truly living the bandster lifestyle didn't happen to me until after my 3rd fill, and I'm still learning. Just the other day, I realized that whenever I have artificial sweetener, I start craving sweets and carbs! It's a process. One of the peopleat the fill center told me that I need a fill if I find I'm "food-seeking". I think that's part of it, getting the right fill. I think the other part is that it just takes time to build a new lifestyle. You'll probably also find that when you choose your exercise, you might meet other health-conscious friends to hang out with sometimes, so look for something social, like Jazzercise.

Don't be frustrated... I know EXACTLY how you feel.. as required by my surgeon I stopped my birth control pills 1 month prior to surgery and got my period right away... and it was BAD. Everytime I moved, it got worse...so for an entire week I did not go to the gym and I ate like a pig with a tape worm... I showed no will power at all. So this week its back to the gym..back to the Protein Shakes, salads and low fat, low cal everything. Just gotta pick up where you left off. I also kinda work out a "deal" with myself. If I slip up and eat junk... then I make up for it by exercising for an extra 10-15 min.

I am just like you. There are some weeks when I lose no weight, but my clothes seem to fit looser and then the next week I will get on the scale an lose my normal 2 to 3 lbs. I know your frustration. I never lose any weight when I'm on my period. My body has always been that. In fact I gain 1 to 2 lbs, but it drops right after my period. I also have sometimes eaten too much. But my handy band has let me know, fast. We all still have our foods we love, our band doesn't take away those cravings. I had my surgery in August, my beginning weight was 252 and my current weight is 198, I have lost 54 lbs. The weight loss will happen, some are slow losers, some are faster losers. I had a friend that lost so much more than I lost. I felt bad sometimes but my doctor told me to worry about my body, that everybody is different when it comes to weight loss. Keep your chin up and it will get better. Good luck in your weight loss.

:mad:Don't feel bad. I do everything I am told. I exercise like crazy 6 days a week. I

eat 1,000-1200 calories per day-protein first then veggies. I have only lost 5 lbs in the last 3 months. Frustrated? you can say that again!:tired

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
