Hi all!!!

I was sleeved on 6/10 and recently began ursodiol 300mg twice a day. Although I shouldn't since I'm still in the early stages and fluctuating, I weigh myself usually everyday...my first weigh in after the medication I fluctuated 3lbs up..did anyone else notice if their gallbladder meds changed their weight or slowed the progress of their weight loss? A few people have expressed bloating and weight gain while others have said it helps to aid in weight loss as your gallbladder can breakdown cholesterol etc. perhaps my weight is attributed to the fact that I had about 680 cals compared to my average of 400-500. Thanks all!!!

-Mike

I had surgery on 6/10 as well. Can you believe it has been a month???

My doc had me start Ursodiol after my 2 wk appt. I didn't notice much change, but I did notice my first couple weeks were pretty slow. Once I started exercising every day (walking, swim, even jog a bit, whatever... variety is the spice of life!) I noticed I started losing more consistently. That's just me though...

And hey, congrats on the 1 month!

I'm am so glad you both say it is going fast. I have only been home for two days and I'm already tired of being tired, LOL.

Have you noticed getting more acid or just feeling more energy drain with ursodiol? I now take it before bed because I can't stand the way it makes me feel.

I did notice a slight stall when I started. Just lost 1/2 every 3 days instead of pound a day. The. Went into a stall for almost two weeks

I was on Ursoldiol for 4 months after surgery, and I never noticed any side-effects or that it hindered my weight loss. But everone's different.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
