Mine went well. Feeling better every few hours. Am able to get liquids down ounce by ounce. Stomach is super sore though. Not too much trouble with gas...I came prepared with gas ex strips and they were a life saver. Hope to go home tomorrow!

I am a July 8th surgery date. And I am very nervous about it. I'm older [68] and I wonder if I am going to be able to break all these old habits of mine. I want to succeed and finally get my self healthy. I only have to do 1 day of Clear Liquids on Monday, so I know I can handle that. But I am ready to get moving and get on with my new life. I would love to be a buddy to anyone who wants to follow my story. Hopefully I can give some valuable info. on my daily experiences. Either way, good luck to you all and I will be watching for your up date.

well I'm glad to know that I'm not the only late bloomer in the bunch. I'm 54 and my surgery date is July 30th. I would live yo hear all about your experience and your day to day challenges. Kim

Wow for the 7/7-ers we have less than 24 hours. I report to the hospital at 8am and go in for surgery at 10am. By this time tomorrow it will be over. I have a ton of stuff to do.

Pack, not sure what to bring but I am packing: cell, charger, cpap, go home clothes, no Water tooth cleaners, mouthwash, shower gel and deodorant. Did I miss anything?

Get my family ready: cook, braid my daughters hair, get her prepped for school tomorrow, braid my hair, clean my house and fix my garden. Should I leave something out?

What's everyone's prep plans.

how did your surgery go? Feeling up to chatting let me know. Kim

I am also 54 and just had my surgery on 7-7. I got home from the hospital today. Feeling pretty good, better then I expected. Stomach, left side really tender. Liquids settling pretty well. How are the rest of you?

They didn't release me until 8pm because I had painful gas that prevented me from swallowing my liquids. Im glad to be home and start my healing

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair. Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end. That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
