11 days out- 32 oz protein shake takes 30 minutes to drink

Recommended Posts

i feel fabulous and really feel like i'm right on track. i am incredibly thankful that my GI issues are minor and i haven't had anything more than a few burps here and there.

i feel blessed that SO FAR, my intake of my Protein shakes is easy and goes pretty fast too. so far no problems getting my fluids or Protein, doing one of these 32 oz shakes in the AM and one in the PM and this meets my protein requirements. i don't know if 30 minutes is good, bad, fast, slow, etc for having my shakes and i'm not 'gulping' huge amounts, just drinking comfortable amounts.

how is everyone else doing? anyone else around 11 days out?

Who makes a 32 oz shake? I drink a Premier Protein shake first thing in the morning while I'm checking email & reading the news. Those are 11 oz & it's all I can do to get that down in an hour or less. I can't imagine a 32 oz shake.

I thought the same thing. How are Protein Shakes coming out to 32ozs? Most mixes only require 8ozs of milk or Water. And how at 11 days are you managing to consume 32ozs of anything in 30 minutes?

I make my shakes with 8oz of coconut milk, one scoop of Protein Powder and a ton of ice. My shake usually ends up being about 28oz. It takes me 2/3 hours to drink it in the morning.

well i checked with my bari coordinator and reported all of my intake and sizes, ingredients, timing, etc, and was told that as long as i'm comfortable it is all good.

my 32 oz shakes consist of Muscle Milk Pro Series, powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury, mixed with milk and ice. good stuff.

I think you're doing great-- lots of liquid so you don't get dehyated!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
