Looking for a band buddy to occasionally text with

Recommended Posts

I've been banded for 6 years. I reached my goal weight and beyond quickly (I'm 5'8" and I got down to 114 pounds). Slowly, I've gained 40 pounds back (this morning I weighed 153). I am sad every day because I have zero control over what I eat.

I'm looking for someone in a similar situation so we can text each other when we feel weak, or somehow help motivate each other.

There is a catch-It can't be anyone who will preach that the ways I want to drop the weight are unhealthy, blah blah. We have all been overweight and we know exactly how we got there. We also know every single diet/health tip in the book.

Anyone?

Also, it seems I'm horrible at navigating through this forum, so I hope I can find my way back to look for replies. Maybe you could send me a message that I'd notice on the home page?

I get you. I have been the same weight for 1 year. It's not goal weight either. My doctor is fine with my weight but I would like to lose 40-50 more. My cardiologist wants 20 gone by next June. I have restriction I just eat wrong. Like ice cream tonight. I even bought it.

Good luck. I am here if you want to talk about it. I am from Boston

Thanks for replying Arlene. My doc looks at mine under fluoro and says my restriction is very good, but some days I can eat huge meals and snack all day. I'm never, ever hungry. I just eat when I'm stressed and sad and happy...

So you are at a plateau, huh? Those are frustrating, but you aren't gaining. That's something to be proud of!

I understand your situation. Ibwas banded in 2007 had to have a revision in April this year to fix my slipped band and a hernia. Have i lost any weight since then? Nope sure havent. Very frustrated. I am trying to be careful as to what i eat and try to exercise everyday. But this time everything is different and the fills are smaller to help keep my band from slipping again. Any time you want to chat let me know. We all need the support cause its never easy no matter if this is new or not.

Good Luck

Danielle

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
