Should I be able to ride on the rides, or no?

Recommended Posts

As you can see from my profile picture, I love roller coasters! When I was a kid I went on them all the time. I didn't start gaining tons of weight until I was around 18 years old, before that I was very thin. Anyways, in the next couple of weeks I have two trips planned to Water parks and six flags. I'm really excited about this as I have lost close to 100 pounds. But I am also nervous because I'm afraid I still wont fit into the seats to ride on the roller coasters. Is there anyway I can know for sure without embarrassing myself by *trying* to get on a ride only to be turned away? this is a huge fear of mine and I feel like I shouldn't fear that anymore because I lost so much weight but I still do fear it.

On the website for six flags they had a chart for each ride and on some of them it said to have a waistline of under 40 inches. Ok, my waistline is under 40 inches but my hips certainly aren't, my widest part of my hips are still 49 inches last I checked. Im short, so even though I weigh under 200 pounds, my BMI is still around 35. I just wish there was an easy way to know if I can enjoy the rides without worrying about it.

Height 5 feet, weight (by the time I go) around 180.

I just visited six flags last week. I am 5'3" and weigh 179. I have wide hips and with my weight loss I fit in the seats just fine. Some were snug on my hips but not embarrassing at all and no issues buckling in . Had a great time.

Most rides have a seat at the entrance you can try and sit in and see if it fits. I'm sure you will be fine. Enjoy and let us know how it goes!

I just visited Disneyland a couple months ago. While in line for the upside down coaster at California Adventure, I noticed an obese woman with her little girl in front of us. She weighed at LEAST 300 lbs. The whole 30 minutes we were in line, I was mortified for her cuz I knew once she got to the front of the line, they weren't going to let her on. To my amazement, she rode it just fine. The harness fit perfectly.

About 4 mths ago we went to Knotts berry Farm and rode on a scary one (I'm just getting used to the scary ones! Still terrified). My husband is 6'0" and he barely fit. His knees were up to his chin. Had he been any bigger (taller) he probly wouldn't have fit. They don't tell u that u can be too tall for a ride.

Good luck and have fun. I'm sure ur fine. At Six Flags I'm sure they will accomodate u. It's the rinky dink little rides (like at the fair) that u have to worry about fitting into.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
