So random question, but do you wear anything under the hospital gown? I mean for the few days your are in the hospital. I'm asking because I'm diabetic and wear an insulin pump and need something with pockets to put it on/in so was thinking of taking shorts to wear underneath the gown? I don't know...any suggestions? When I had my gallbladder taken out years ago, I wasn't on the pump so it wasn't an issue. And I can't remember wearing anything underneath.

Help?

I have surgery tomorrow and am trying to pack :/

Thanks!

I went commando. They had me change into the gown right after arriving and I was in surgery within hours. After surgery I was in the same gown for about 24 hours and was released. I went in on a Saturday morning and was released Sunday afternoon.

None of the group of about 12 had anything under the hospital gowns. We were told to strip down to nothing. There was one lady who was a fashionista and wore her leopard robe with her fuzzy pink slippers. All the rest of us were just hospital gowned. Some wore slippers, some the non-skid socks they put on you ... as for me, my Birkenstocks suited me just fine!

Nothing. Total commando for the 28 hours of hospital stay.

Then came home and still have not worn a bra.

Want to stick to dresses though as much as possible so I don't have to buy too much right away

blues - you will be on insulin pump after your surgery?

Maybe take a robe with pockets with you.

Hi travelmego,

Yeah, there were a lot of problems getting my blood sugars under control for 4 days, but I'm back on my pump and doing good!

Turns out I didn't wear anything underneath the gown and glad i didn't lol too many bathroom trips!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
