Eating at 3 months out

Recommended Posts

This post is for those people who are in the very early stages of gastric sleeve and are wondering what they can eat on atypical day at 3 months.

My day:

Breakfast 100 calorie Greek yogurt vanilla

1/4 fresh sliced peach mixed together

20 ml sugar free tea

lunch baked chicken leg, 4 green Beans

My 3 Gummy Vitamins for desert

20 ml sugar free Hawaiian punch

snack

1/2 premiere strawberry shake ( yummy)

1/4 c cottage cheese

dinner

Protein snack pack ( cheese, almonds, diced

ham)

Snack

1/2 of strawberry Protein Shake

2 chocolate Calcium chews

Yogurt is a slider for me, my go to snack is boiled

eggs, turkey Jerky bites, Oscar Myers Protein snack pack and imitation crab meatIt doesn't take but about 4 bites to fill me up. I have more head hunger then actual hunger. It's worse when I watch tv and see all of the food commercials . I keep a drawer of high protein Snacks in 4 oz cups ready to grab and toss in my lunch bag for work. I haven't been exercising like I should, but I'm losing about 2 pounds a week except for the 2 week stall. I have lost 40 lbs since being sleeved

Hope this helps

Very helpful. I find that as time passes by since my surgery, I am feeling okay with the lifestyle changes I am making. Its okay to not eat as I once did. I am loving the results I am seeing. Checking nutritional labels is routine and planning my meals is necessary. So glad to see you are making good choices. :)

Results are definitely my great motivator. There are times I just want to get out of food social events, but I'm coming around on how to handle that but it's my main "issue" right now.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
