BDM 3 Posted July 4, 2014 I'm 9 days out from my surgery. I had a post op infection that kept me in hospital for the first week. They had me on IV antibiotics in the hospital and it me on a 2 week course of augmentin. I'm on 2nd day and my stomach seems fine. Only down side is bathroom runs. They gave me HORSE pills for augmentin. I wish I would have asked them if the med came in liquid form or much smaller pills. I bought a pill crusher and I grind them up and have put the pill dust into my shakes and this morning my apple sauce
VSG AJH 499 Posted July 4, 2014 I developed sepsis earlier this month after getting a piece of glass in my foot. (6 months post-op VSG.) We did a combination of IV antibiotics, oral liquid antibiotics, and huge oral pill antibiotics cut in half (not crushed). I was able to get them down easily, but they did make me queasy. I wasn't able to eat much of anything for several days, then developed thrush from the antibiotics which prevented me from eating for a few days more. I worked hard to stay hydrated, so I had no complications from dehydration, and the not eating for a solid week contributed to me busting out of a very long stall. mi75 1,235 Posted July 6, 2014 fyi there are MANY antibiotics that can be compounded into liquid form, just remind the doc you see that you can't really take pills right now, and would prefer a liquid. shouldn't be any problem! 1 Pietzsapie reacted to this
