Do you have nutritional support through your surgeons office? What kind of a diet does she or he have you on?

But to answer your first question: usually after surgery it's recommended we go very low carb, which would absolutely mean no noodles (or rice, potatoes, corn products, sugar, etc). You want to be focussing on eating Protein and then if you're healed enough and room in your stomach after the Protein, vegetables (non-starchy).

What have you been eating so far?

That all sounds ok, other than the potatoes. But again, you should really seek out nutritional help in person. You need someone to be guiding you.

Are you using Protein powder at all? Do you know how many grams of Protein you're getting? My surgeon has said to aim for 70-90 grams a day.

my bariatric clinic DOES allow soft cooked noodles on soft stage, also potatoes, oatmeal, small amounts of rice. every clinic is different but you should check with your dietitian specifically to see what your clinic recommends.

Personally, for best loss I would keep away from noodles, Pasta, potatoes, cereals, etc. but vegetable carbs like 1/4 cup of refried Beans or lentils I found to be helpful. Just because you are allowed a food doesn't necessarily mean it is the best choice for you to lose weight.

I agree with this statement 100%. The soft food stage is usually a little more lenient. Many times allowing mashed potatoes and similar starches. But do yourself a favor and dont do it. You really need to get out of old habits. There are so many other high Protein options. Down the road when you hit your goal, you can have an occasional treat of a starch. But right now get into the habit of staying away.

i was only supposed to have Protein and Protein Shakes and soft veggies like sweet potatoes or fruit like bananas or applesauce. no starches like that until after 3 months AND only if we got in all our protein, Water, veggies and fruit.

gotta kinda wonder why you are asking if you can eat processed carbs when you are asking why you are putting on weight.

what are you eating? are you getting in your Protein? how about fluids? 1-2 Protein shakes a day? exercising?

i would stay away from Pasta and other processed carbs until you are at goal. they just fill you up with little nutrition.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
