Surgery this morning went well.

Recommended Posts

I had surgery this morning and all went well. I was there 3.5 hours and home by noon. I have been really tired, but the pain is minimum. I don't know if I will feel it tomorrow but so far I haven't needed any pain meds. It just might kick me tomorrow, you know how you do yard work and feel sore the next day? No gas pain yet? I am not comfortable lying down though. I sleep better sitting up. I walked for 15 minutes and feel just fine. Not hungry, just been trying to drink Water and sf drinks. Now I am off to feed some feral cats I care for (tnr). Have a nice evening everyone! Oh, and I lost 20 pounds on pre-op diet! Yeah!!

Congrats and welcome to the other side !!! I felt a little tired and worn out the first 2 days, but much better on the 3rd day. Daily hot tea and a hot shower helped alot , along with walking and liquids. Hope you do well ! Happy 4th of July !

Great job with the pre-op. I only had a weeks notice. I should have focused more on trying to loose months ago. Not really knowing if my ins. would approve the surgey. But reality is Mon is the big day. Hope each day gets better for you. Happy 4th.

Congratulations on your surgery! Praying for a speedy recover. If you don't have a heat pad and an ice pack get them! Send someone for them after you get home. Take your meds, no shame in that! Eat lots of popsycles will help with the swelling. I'm not quite 2 weeks post op. My a week I felt great. The worst was the gas pain. Its all worth it!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
