Not able to drink water, i feel like a champagne bottle thats going to pop

Recommended Posts

I am always thirsty, but i am not able to drink all the Water i should, because i feel like my stomach is full of gas...i can literally hear bubbles coming up in my eosophagus...as if i was a champagne bottle!

My throat is always thight as if you want to cry, and say an hour after i have eaten if i dare to drink a sip, it will come back up as a foam.

They have change my medication, but 5 weeks after surgery this area has not improved one bit...

Anyone cant tell me what this is or if they have that,..is this a stricture?

Thanks for the help

You need to contact your surgeon and explain what's going on. Are you able to keep anything down?

Yes i am keeping food down. Surgeon think its just reflux...but i dont have any burning sensation. But my nutritionnist thinks the pressure in my stomach has increased a lot with the surgery aand this may be the cause. I dont know its just strange and annoying

I am sure you are in a PPI like prilosec or some thing better, but are you taking it first thing in the morning and with a cup of Water 30 minutes before you eat?

are you waiting a full 30-45 mins after you eat to drink? are you drinking slowly, taking sips and not gulping? try room temp Water too, cold Water can make your sleeve freak out.

when i feel like you do, i am drinking too soon and not sipping.

You need to walk walk walk walk to get rid of the excess gas and bloating. ONLY walking will help, not GasX, not anything else, just plain ole walking. Good Luck, feel better and WALK WALK WALK!

Newborn Tummy that's very disagreeable .....like I tell other sleever's, remember that your tummy is brand-new it's like it was just born and it's a five week old newborn ......and it's irritated and it's hungry but when you feed it it doesn't like it ......it's all normal .....anything that is abnormal your medical team should address and if you are not getting your proper nutrition because of the behavior of your new tummy the medical team should absolutely be involved ....good luck...

Are you having the same trouble with other liquids, not Water? I love Water and it's really all I drink, but for the first two weeks after surgery water was hard to get down. It felt heavy and like it took up too much space in the new tummy. However, apple juice went down very easy. I diluted it with water 1:1 and it kept me from becoming dehydrated.

There is info available about the reasons why water can be difficult in the beginning. i can't remember, something about the dense surface???

Hope you improve with time.

I have the same problem. I'm 4 months out. I walk, etc. It happens when I first wake up too, so it's not like I'm drinking too soon after eating. It gets so difficult to get liquids down that I'm starting to worry. Actually, I allow myself 1 small cup of coffee daily and lately, I can't even drink that.

Your description spoke to me. That is exactly how it felt for me, like champagne bubbles. In due time, I was able to drink more easily but even now, on occasion, I feel the bubbles. I am able to get enough down now so do see if you can get some aid with hydration. And don't forget the sugar-free popsicles count as liquids!

I exercise which helps my body crave the Water and get a decent amount down.

Well something happened not sure what, but i dont have so much trouble anymore.

A virus showed up on my tongue and after that it got much better...to the point where i am now starving often and i need a lot of food...so my weight lost is slowing down.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
