sh1211 38 Posted July 4, 2014 I have had two previous laparoscopic surgeries, I was under the impression you could only have two surgeries laparoscopically. Does anyone know if that has changed in recent years? If it hasn't how would they perform a gastric sleeve? Would they open the abdominal area up like a c-section? mi75 1,235 Posted July 4, 2014 i honestly did not know that and i'm a nurse! i can't imagine WHY but like i said, i didn't know this! if you would require an 'open' procedure, they do a vertical cut in the middle belly from right below your rib cage about 6 inches long or so... knitlil09 91 Posted July 4, 2014 Never heard of that limit. I have had 3 laparoscopic surgeries: lapband, lapband removal, sleeve. They may have some difficulties if you have a lot of scar tissue. My surgeon for my sleeve was worried about scar tissue, but I was lucky and I had a minimal amount so it didn't cause any complications when he got in there. sh1211 38 Posted July 4, 2014 That's great to hear, I wasn't looking forward to an open surgery.
j2014 5 Posted July 4, 2014 I have had 4 laparoscopic surgeries plus two C-sections, and I am getting sleeved laparoscopically on 7/14. There is no limit.
