OMG!!!! I thought it was just me....ha! I may look at what others do but as long as I don't do the same, it's all good. I know I can't do the same, I would be sick. I do however forget what I have had done until my stomach does start to hurt. Then I realize, oh crap I think that was too fast, or maybe it was too big of bites. I forget I've had a sleeve done and I feel myself returning to the rushed eating....I changed all my other habits prior to surgery but I forgot that one....arrgghhh!!!

It's frustrating too that when grocery shopping is done for our house that one person chooses to bring the "junk" foods in and she's diabetic and I know I don't eat that stuff. But I see it and know it's here.

As far as going to resteraunts, right now I feel like thats a waste of money for me. I can't eat what is served and the prices are crazy. If I bring stuff home, it can last for 3 days and by then it's no good....I have a hard time with the resteraunt visits....

So I finally went to a restaraunt Saturday night. 2.5 weeks out at the time.

Wow. Just wow.

We were a group of 4. And everyone at my table was so great and ate slow for me (sniff) but the table closest to us I was like wowowowowowso

Even my cousin was astonished since she was consciously eating slow. She was like do I scarf my food down like that without breathing without chewing without thought?

I said we probably all had done that before.

My companions basically noticed they ate slower and were full faster. We all took home doggie bags and that has never happened

I find myself doing something similar in the grocery store - I look into other people's carts and think, "Wow, look at all that crap!" I want to say, "Don't do it. Put it away. The produce department is right over there." Of course, I don't say anything and I walk away...

I chuckled at myself the other day when they were giving away samples of cherries...I ate on and thought, "OK, I've had breakfast!"

I have avoided restaurants since my surgery, for the most part. But I do sometimes find myself commenting on how much, and how quickly my hubby eats. He will finish a massive plate of food way faster than it takes me to eat the half cup I serve myself. And then, like most of us, I remember that I was doing the same thing a few short months ago...

I think it's how we Americans are raised, always in a hurry, always rushing, even though most of the time there is nothing to rush to. Even before surgery I was always asking my husband where he was rushing off to after a meal. We'd be sitting in a restaurant, I'd be finishing my drink, and he would be rattling his keys, ready to leave. Now I can't rush, so he has to wait for me!
