Dr. Juan Lopez Corvala

Recommended Posts

Am looking for current info on Dr Juan Lopez Corvala . . .

I would love to hear from patients who've gone to him for VSG surgery.

I would also love to hear comments on the hospital and staff at Angeles Hospital International.

I did a search and nothing current came up so I thought I would ask.

Thank you!!

Search through the forums and contact the people here who have already used him.

Consider staying stateside for your surgery.

Be up front and ask about cleanliness, how easy it would be for someone to get into the hospital uninvited - and focus less on the glowing reviews and more on whether the staff seemed competent in times of emergency. If things are OK, its  going to seem great, it is when things go wrong that the competency of a hospital, surgeon and staff and security (especially in Mexico) really matter.

Good luck!

I had my lap band with Dr Lopez Corvala at Hospital Angeles about 8-9 years ago. Now I'm getting ready to get the sleeve with him. The hospital is amazing. The nursing staff is awesome. Now they even have English-Spanish-English translators in-site. The whole medical team is local. I get to have psychological and nutritional support. The Drs and the case manager is always there to help. I can reach them via skype, FB, messenger, telephone. What I most like is that I always feel they are there for me. Dr Lopez is just awesome. I feel I had the best care during my lap band surgery, and I am 100% sure I will only repeat the great experience once I have my sleeve. I'm so excited:) I'm still saving and am only a few $100's away from making my dream a reality!!!:)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
