Week 6: May 27-31st Sleevers

Recommended Posts

Still stuck but I do have a NSV yesterday........ My husband and I were folding clothes and he said I can't tell your jeans from our son's jeans anymore. You are wearing a size close to his they look the same to me. What is so wonderful about this is that my son weighs 94 lbs. So I know I do not wear anything close to him but it was so nice that my husband thinks I do :)

An another NSV I ate salad yesterday and today and it went down easily and tasted yummy!

As far as weird side effects. Yes I have a couple that even through all my research I didn't realize. One was all the emotional crap I go through. No I am not sad about food, but I can get my feelings hurt pretty easily. it was much worse the first month or two but I am still a little more sensative than usual even right now. I smell odd sometimes and I have no idea why. I even asked my kids and my husband if they noticed and they finally admitted they did. I am HOPING that's only temporary. I was prepared for my hair to fall out but it has gotten frizzy and very unhealthy looking also.

I have to admit that I regretted the surgery at first for even longer than most people. I am actually JUST NOW feeling happy about my decision.

I also didn't realize how loudly, persistently and embarrassingly my stomach would gurgle and growl. I have started to call in to meetings instead of walking across the hall to the meeting rooms because my stomach/gut always put their 2c in.

Yea I didn't realize about the stomach noises either but thankfully mine doesn't do it nearly as much anymore.

I did think of one positive one. My periods are way shorter and very light.

Has anyone started to experience "weird" side effects you didn't hear about beforehand?

I was a little bit of a researchaholic before surgery, looking up mortality rates and all the possible complications so losing hair and getting flappy skin and getting dehydrated all the time I expected and can deal with...

But lately I'm starting to experience lesser-talked-about whole-body side effects that are hitting me out of left field. Like the fact my eye prescription has drastically changed and I need to get new glasses. Just had new ones made 5 months ago, it's the fat loss behind my eyes changed the curves of my eyes. Also my ears get forever-open eustachian tubes because I've lost fat around my inner ears, and i can hear myself breathing inside my head really loudly. The only way to fix it is to put my head between my knees, and this happens like a half dozen times a day. Awkward. Why doesn't my body pull the fat from my still very large rump or belly?? Why the head? So weird.

Anybody else getting little surprises, hopefully nicer than mine?

Just wondering here, didnt you had 2 surgeries? Could these effects you are describing rather be due to going twice under anesthesia. I mean lots of people lose memory, i wouldnt be surprise it can affect your eyes or ear pressure...

Or its due to less processed food, withdrawal...toxins are getting out of your system and your nervous system doesnt know how to handle it, free radicals and all.

My 4 yrs old only son got diagnose with autisms (asperger), i am freaking out....i have become léthargic, so i havent exercices in a while, and i just want to eat crap, the halloween chocolate is screaming my name and right now i dont see the point in resisting. I did this surgery so i could be there for him and have a greater complicity with him...not gonna happen

I work out a couple of times a day so that's helping as well

I am so sorry to hear that! You should look for a support group with other parents whose child has this. I know a few people and there is light at the end of the tunnel. Hang in there!

Hi @@Niquee, Yeah I was a "double dipper" I had to have my gallbladder out in month 3 after my sleeve. I didn't think about detox, as we're all about 5 months out now I figured that part would have been over but possible. It's just surprising to me that while you can research and read all about something, I never knew the reality of it and all it's weird quirks until its my everyday life.

I hope it's ok if I pray for you and your son. Finding this news out is definitely tough. Not the same exactly, but my nephew got the same diagnosis at about 4 and through special counseling has really improved his communication and ticks. I admire your honesty as you're dealing with a big challenge life is throwing your way. Keep us posted.

Now more than ever your son is your reason to be strong and healthy, he needs you.

My good friends son has Aspergers, was diagnosed young. He is now 18 and heading away to college soon. It wasn't easy, but there is so much help out there.

They belong to support groups and learned so much from these groups over the years. They had him changed schools till they found one he thrived in. Now he is doing great and heading off to college next Sept.

Good luck and breath deep . You will make it through this, just don't try and do it alone????

I saw a new thread created today and responded... thought maybe we could do it here too? Miss most from before WLS and Don't Miss at ALL!

Miss you most: I'll say it... I miss the ease of eating without thinking, without discipline, with reckless abandon. I would eat anything that sounded good, give in to every craving and whim, and with a bulletproof stomach that could take anything there was nothing off limits. I miss not having to tell myself no, like... ever. ALSO the questions about my "secret" to weight loss get a little old, but I'm trying to keep taking them with a grain of salt because that means i'm looking better and better.

Don't Miss you at all: Being invisible to men, or worse getting those rude stares, giggles and yes comments from the young buck hot-shots. Even though I'm married, it is SO NICE to be treated and FEEL like a lady and have people now wait to hold the door for me or offer to take my coat etc. Also cannot be understated how much better "bedroom life" is when it's not an unspoken struggle of "you really want ME to do the work? I'm going to have to take a half day off work because I'll hurt so bad/not be able to walk." I can cross my legs now, so I can wear skirts in public. Knee skirts, people. And I can sleep through the whole night instead of waking up multiple times. I don't ache like I moved a couch, every single day, when I wake up. The skin on the bottom of my feet is no longer leather grade, and I don't have to order double wide shoes online I can buy them in any store of the shelf. Normal jewelry fits. When I hug people, my boobs hit them first, not my gut. I don't avoid mirrors and pictures.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
