yesterday was my first full day home. I got almost all my Protein in. I drank as much as I could but it if really hard sometimes. I dnt think I got quite enough fluids in. I tried alittle applesauce and my sleeve seemed to tolerate it well. did a lot of walking yesterday, and it actually made me feel good. my muscles don't feel sore today and gas pain has been minimal. I still occasionally take my pain medicine because I want to stay ahead of the pain and if it makes it easier to get my walking in then that's a plus too! lol belly is still tender where the pulled my stomach out. other than that the incisions are looking good.

definitely made the right decision ! congrats and good luck to everyone!

Tonight will be my first night back to work, just over 2 weeks after surgery. I wasn't given any restrictions, so I hope it's a good night. I work as a nurse in coronary ICU and it can get pretty crazy busy. A good portion of our patients aren't very mobile and tend to be large, so I do a lot of heavy lifting between turning ventilated patients or assisting a weak one to the bathroom. Love my job, just hope I'm healed up enough where i don't hurt myself. Gonna bring a high Protein Shake with me just in case I don't get a chance to get a lunch. 7pm-7am, not looking forward to it...

good luck with returning to work! Being prepared by bringing something is the way to go :)

Just please be careful lifting. I came back today to a desk job and the dr. put "No heavy lifting" as a restriction on my return to work form. I'm two weeks today.

So for those of you who had alot of pain right from the beginning (and I'm not talking gas pains, but the muscular and shooting type pain) how long did it take for that to go away? I'm on day 3 and still feel like I've done a million sit ups and someone is repeatedly stabing my abdomen.

Hey you have to let me know how it goes!!!! I have been wondering about that. I am a CNA for Hospice and I will be back to work next week which will be. 2 1/2 weeks after my surgery. Have been nervous about going back to work, but can't afford to be off longer. I also work 8pm - 8am 12 hour shift overnight..... Please share your experience with me and any tips about going back will help.

I don't feel that I had a horrible amount of pain, but everyone's tolerance and experience is different. What I can tell you is I remember at some point thinking the same thing you are and being 10 days it's gets better with each. It might not feel like that the first 5 days but there is gonna a day you wake up and think to yourself gee I feel so much better than yesterday.

I was sleeved on the first and my incisions have pretty much healed BUT they are still swollen and itchy. I've tried Neosporin--alergic reaction, Cortizone cream, and Benedryl spray. None of these things seem to be helping. The doc suggested covering with bandaids to prevent irritation but I have an adhesive allergy.

Is anyone else having issues with your incision spots?

I had my sleeve on Monday August 25th. I have had pain ever since they took me off the pain pump at the hospital. I cannot tolerate the liquid pain meds it gives me Migraines and very vivid dreams. Having major problems getting in any medications. Doing my best at getting down the fluids. I have only had one Protein Shake today. I am at a total loss and I am scared to death that I will not feel any better. Was anyone else given a binder at the hospital to wear?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
