Urbanlamb 56 Posted August 23, 2014 @ sandi in fl I thought you weren't suppose to fly do to risk of embolism Good point Chris! I guess if you are flying you should be sure that they give you blood thinners and that you wear compression stockings??
snowkitten 371 Posted August 23, 2014 Today is Day Five post-op (was sleeved August 18). I am doing GREAT! Did three loads of laundry this morning, folded, hung and put it all up. Tummy is only mildly sore. Am amazed at how well I'm drinking, sipping, slurping. Am up to 49 grams of protein/day (yesterday). Going up every day. Not trying to be the World Champ during Week One -- just do a little better every day. I lost THREE FREAKIN' POUNDS LAST NIGHT! That's a personal best, for sure! (And yes, I'm probably still shedding IV weight. But it's still 4 pounds less than just before surgery.) In other words (knock on wood), I'm lovin' this. Yay that's exciting!! 4 pounds even when Water weight is awesome. That's about a bag of sugar you no longer have to carry arround!
Loristi 14 Posted August 23, 2014 Well I survived! I was sleeved yesterday and Im home already! The being put under part was surprsingly easy. I dont even remember them doing it! I just woke up in recovering chanting to myself in my head "I did it, I did it!" lol Im really tred and have mild gas thats more annoying than anything. Im surprised at how much I do NOT want to eat. Sandi in FL 39 Posted August 23, 2014 @ sandi in fl I thought you weren't suppose to fly do to risk of embolism Yes Chris - that was a concern of mine too- but they told me to get compression stockings... and Im instructed to move my feet and legs while I sit and walk every 30-45 minutes on the plane. I have 3 friends that went to this hospital - same treatment - and they are all giving me advice too... so I feel comfy with the planning.

Doctor told me first week to b on Clear Liquids only Isopure potein drink and clear liquids. My full liquid stage starts next Wednesday that's wen I start getting in all that protein. I really don't have a problem getting anything down but the major area longest incision is tight and uncomfortable. My question though did anyone have diarrhea(TMI) but this is how learn. Hang in there I am trying to do the same.
amazon 579 Posted August 24, 2014 I was sleeved on 8/14. Struggled with nausea and some vomiting + dry heaves the first 24 hours after surgery. Took a few tries to find something that helped. So I got an extra night's stay. (In Thurs. and out Saturday). The few days following I kept getting stomach/chest/back pains that came and went. I was expecting the incisions to bug me but not this. And this really hurt :-( So after a rough night Monday night, I called the dr.'s first thing Tuesday. I was asked if I could come in. So of course I did. Initial exam was fine. No real alarm bells per se, but they ordered some blood work and an ESD. By the time I was done, the Dr. had the results and ends up I developed acid reflux. (I actually saw it on the ESD) Never had any issues before. The acid could also have been behind the nausea in the hospital. So my PPI was doubled and I was told I could take Tums if also needed. It's believed that this will go away as the swelling goes away. Hope so! So now I'm doing fine. Getting all of my Protein and fluids in. Definitely getting tired of yogurt, apple sauce, and Protein Shakes all ready, lol. Just 2.5 weeks until pureed :-)
YESICAN21 8 Posted August 24, 2014 Hello All: My surgery is the Tuesday the 26 I am a little nervous. I had the band removed in June my doctor said he might have to take more of my stomach taken so I want have leakage. Also told I might have to be cut if he has issues has anyone ever heard of this? He did say maybe but just concerned. Please reply someone
soniaJ 49 Posted August 24, 2014 I've heard that sometimes they cut you if your liver is too large and they can't maneuver around it. I haven't heard of making your stomach smaller so it doesn't leak. Why would he do that? Does he thing the lap band did something to your stomach.
YESICAN21 8 Posted August 24, 2014 I don't know I will call him on Monday and ask that question.
