I am home had my surgery around 4pm Monday and its now 3.30pm Wednesday. I had no nausea and no gas pain the minimal pain I had was managed with panadol. I did also have a hiatal hernia repair as well which I had had no symptoms off. So far I've stuck completely to clear fluids mostly Water black tea and chicken broth. It all seems a little surreal as I am feeling just like me. I didn't have any emotional flatness or anything on day 2 as my surgeon predicted that I would. In fact the worse pain was from my iv in my hand where they gave me Fluid and liquid panadol up to 8am this morning.

I have a really silly question... for those of you who have already had the surgery - do you feel a void or any different in your abdomen? lol I keep freaking out (read: nervous for Friday) that I'll feel empty inside and be able to "feel" the missing part of my stomach. ha! So, please someone answer this for me!

Okay, I need to rant here, if that is okay. I have decided to not tell very many people about my surgery. The few I have told are my sisters, and my best friend.

What I want to know is why do they feel to need to tell me about, some friends girlfriends uncle had this surgery and well they did loose a lot of weight, but two years later gained all of the weight back. OH, and my girl friend told me yesterday that she heard about a person who was a friend of her bosses sister had this done and well, 3 months after surgery she was in a coma because she had a really bad infection..... seriously people, really.

I told them for support, should of put my foot in my mouth while I was in the liquid stage of the pre op.

Had my post opt visit with my Surgeon yesterday. It went really well. When I had talked to him before surgery, one of my concerns was that I was a lapband revision to sleeve patient, and I had heard that because of this I would not loose as fast or as much weight as a regular sleeve patient. He told me that he just did not see that to be true. He said that each patient looses different, it has not been proven that the lapband revision has any bearing on that.

Well, yesterday I had lost 19 lbs since starting the pre op diet. And he was very pleased, he said that the most he has every expected anyone to loose was 20 lbs. Then he told me "See, I told you that the lapband revision would not hold you back. Just say positive and keep up the good work."

Very excited, came home and started to clean out my closet, already have some thing that I do not intend to wear again. My big moomoo dress, looks like it was made by Omar the Tent Maker. LOL

Good luck to everyone where ever you are on this wild ride!!!

I have only told a few people too, firstly because it's nobody's business! secondly there are always going to the people who whether it's intentional or not, get you down! I like to think they do it because they care but sometimes they are doing it to me rude. my one cousin, after I told her I was getting it done replied "I'm so mad, now I'm going to be the fat one!" as to imply it was my job to be the fat friend. then to tell me she is just gonna loose weight the old fashioned way, like I'm doing the easy way. not once had she said I'm happy that you made a health decision. my mother loves to remind me of foods I can't eat anymore, and she is not doing it to be mean. but it is an adjust for her too.

Well Peeps, I had my surgery on the 18th and am back home now. I won;t lie...first 24 hours were rough because of nausea...bad nausea. I was expecting it though, because I have wonky ears...doesn't take much to make me car sick or sea sick. But then I wok up this morning, a new woman!! Just call me "SUPER SLEEVEY"!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
