Recommended Posts

I posted earlier. Sleeved 6/17. And since June 25 I have been stalled. Only 20 pound since preOp diet. I an down 2 pounds today so yeah. I guess my body has Finally come out of shock and will now do what it's supposed to.

I'm sure another Stall or several will come along this journey as I add and experiment with regular foods. It is what it is !!!

I was in a stall for about 2 weeks and finally lost 1 pound the day before yesterday and another yesterday. I wasn't getting all of my Protein or Water in. I tried really hard and got protein in and 90% of water. Maybe that did it or maybe it was just time for my body to lose again. I'm not sure, but I am grateful!! Hang in there everyone!

STALL, STALL, STALL

Well, here I am at week ten post surgery. Eight weeks of stalling, but it feels longer........

Before anyone shouts at me, YES, I have followed my plan, yes, I am drinking Water, yes I am having my Protein and yes I am exercising.

Everyone is saying that I look slimmer, so I took a peek in the mirror, well, yes I am, I have to admit, but I sort of knew that as my clothes are getting soooo big. I tried ignoring the scales, then realised, for me, I wanted to know what was good, or bad for my weight loss, so I got back on them, and I weigh daily. What's wrong with that? I've done it most of my adult life, and I'm sure getting on the scales doesn't stop me from dropping the pounds, it never has before.

I talked with the specialist bariatric nurse and she confirmed that the surgery IS working, as I'm dropping inches, and to try not to worry too much about the pounds. Oh boy, comforting, but not !!!

Well, this week I have been amazed, I have lost over 5 pounds, hurray!!!!! Is this the end of my stall? I sure hope so.

So good luck to everyone in the weight loss x

cathy, my doc said we should avoid all fruits at this stage as they contain a lot of sugar which is stored as fat immediately.

I was having a banana daily, but now I have stopped it.

I've been tracking my intake on Fitness Pal and getting in all my Protein Agnes under 30 carbs. I do have a few little pieces of watermelon each day as a treat but I look it and I'm still under where I need to be. Stalled for over a week ago will exercise more and try strength training I guess. The article on stalls was really good so I'll relax and try mixing up diet and exercise a bit.

I'm eight weeks post-op and have hit my second stall. Totally hit that three week stall like everyone else, it lasted 10 days for me. I'm on day 13 of this current stall. It seems since surgery I have more stall days than loss days.

Anyone else hit their second, third, tenth stall? If so can you please share your story so I can feel better? ;)

I've lost 22 pounds since surgery so I'm very happy and proud of myself! And just so everyone knows I eat around 800 - 900 calories a day (I'm 5'8"), exercise is here and there and I get about 80 g of Protein a day. I may not exercise everyday but I'm an active person.

Thanks everyone for your comments or suggestions!!!

My first stall after, two weeks after surgery, lasted for two weeks. I lost six pounds after that and now I am in another stall. I've never found it this hard to lose in the past and it is confusing no matter how many blogs, articles and books I read. My surgery was on 6/16. I'm trying to accept in my head that these stalls are normal, but it sure is hard.

I was losing so slowly after surgery (only 11 pounds in 6 weeks) and I thought I was doing everything right. On my follow-up appointment I asked the doctor about it. My problem is the carbs. I was staying away from sugar and obvious carbs like bread, Pasta, crackers, etc. but I didn't realize how many carbs were in the 0 fat milk I was adding to my Protein powder, the powder itself had carbs, the cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese. When I started adding it up I guess it was a lot of % compared to the amount of calories I was taking in. I only eat about 500-600 calories a day most days but getting all the Protein and fluids. I just didn't get it. I changed the Protein Powder to MaxPro, stopped snacking at all, cut out the milk and carbs. I immediately lost 4 pounds within 2 days. I have a shake for Breakfast, eat protein only for lunch and dinner, and if I do get hungry or need a snack, I make a shake. If my protein for the day is low, I have a shake to make up the difference anyway. It's only been a week but I lost more in 4 days than I did in 4 weeks before.

Stall is over Im happy to report that I drop 11 pounds in 1 week, I spoke with my nutritionist and she advised me to ensure that I get in all of my Water and Protein and exercise at least 30 minutes to 45 minutes a day or walk for the same amount of time I have been during this since Monday and I have noticed that I have more energy as well as I am eating now every 2-3 hours small meal to ensure that i am getting all of my Protein in. I have one premiere Protein shake and one Protein Bar every day which equals 50 grams of protein then I eat fish or tune or chicken for the remaining protein in which it ends up being my lunch. I want something else in the day i eat a sugarfree popsickle. Hopes this helps someone.

Awesome Cupcake!!! Well done... I like your plan I'm 17 weeks post op & stalling bigtime! I'm going back to the basics! I have both those Premier Protein shakes & just bought pure Protein Bars for the 1st time last week! Yummy I think I may need to lay off of the low carb cheese! And kick up my cardio a notch!

Thank you for sharing ...

Every now and then I switch out my signature at the bottom of my posts. When I came across this quote by Thomas Edison, I immediately thought of our struggles with stalls. Here is my new signature for a while:

Here is how I feel about all the different things we do to break stalls:

"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." Thomas Edison

I am 18 weeks post-op and stalled big time. I am only 6 pounds from 100 pound loss and the scale has stopped moving. I know the reason though. I have been snacking way too much. I too need to get back to the basics. My biggest problem is that when I sit down to eat a meal I get full so fast, then an hour later I am hungry again. No I don't drink with my meals, it just seems that my stomach empties so fast. Anyone else have a problem with quick emptying, stall at 4 months or snacking?

I have also stalled...since 3 months...but my problem is lack of exercise...due to severe arthritis i cant walk...movements are very slow...I am going for knee transplant in oct...so after that I am hopeful of walking more and loosing...I loved walking...but due to various problems...knees are bad..

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
