I was given a tentative surgery date of July 29th. It will likely be postponed, so I'm prepared to be sleeved in August.

I was delayed twice, so don't despair. It happens.

I got a call as I was checking in that it was cancelled. I had a complete breakdown in the hospital.

They got me in later that day though, so I was pretty lucky.

My surgeons surgical nurse is on vacation and she doesn't feel comfortable doing the Duodenal switch with anyone else. So after talking to them today I feel better. So now I'm scheduled for July 16 th. So I continue with my liquid diet that I've been on since June 24 th ! Shew

Wow, I give you all praise, I think I would have flipped over the chair (and what a mess that would be) if they postponed my surgery. Not that they gave you a choice. That really sucks, especially if you have to continue the same diet I did.

Good luck and if the call back, turn on the crazy. lol

I was postponed for 3 months. Not due to the surgeon but because of my own sneaky health issues. The surgeon wanted me to take a few months healing time from diverticulitis. My original date was June 17th. Now it's August 13 (the 3 months started from the time I was hospitalized in May). It was a hard thing to deal with so I feel your pain. Time has flown by though and I am gearing up once again ..... this week will pass quickly and before you know it, you will be post op and really starting your journey. Good luck to you!

Well it's almost here Wednesday is my big day !! I figure I'll get called tomorrow for my arrival time. My surgeon told me I'd be first so my last to surgery dates it was 5:45. So I'm guessing it will be the same time. I'm just praying things workout and I actually get it over with this time : )

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
