NSV that had me so relieved.....the dreaded airplane RIDE!

Recommended Posts

Yesterday, I celebrated an amazing NSV that I know a lot of you had already experienced. The last time I had been on a plane was in February and I can never forget that trip. The seats on both flights were small and I was absolutely MISERABLE and was left with hematomas and bruises on both hips that took weeks to heal. Since then I have been dreading getting on a plane again and mind you my job requires I travel so the leave of absence was a huge blessing and I was also blessed to work from home for the last 3 years. Well yesterday was AMAZING, not only did I fit into my seat and the belt had some space after I buckled it BUT I was also able to cross my legs. No bruises nor hematomas to report! I love this weight loss journey! Good luck to ALL and happy 4th! Let's all eat sensibly :-)

So cool. I also flew last month and crossed my legs. I said to my husband "holy cow I have so much room now"

yep airplanes stories are great

no bruises, able to buckle

can't get much better than that :)

you'll enjoy many, many more wonderful NSV's :)

greet each one with a true sign of continued success :)

pre-WLS i tried to "hide" the fact that i couldn't buckle my seat belt

the attendent discreetly leaned over to me with an extender

i felt so horrible, embarrassed :(

(at least she was nice)

after a lot of weight loss, i sat in the middle of a 3 people

i just "plumped" down in the seat

there was so much room on each side of me - no embarressment sitting so close to two others :)

really cool feeling :)

you've lost 39 lbs!!!! :o

keep up the great job (i know you will :) )

good luck for the rest of your healthier, happier, longer life :)

kathy

congrats

Awww @@proudgrammy thanks so much for the encouraging words! You are one of my inspirations :-)Indeed it felt absolutely wonderful hence more the reason why I am so glad I chose to pursue WLS despite all the naysayers. I am definitely looking to "plump" into a middle seat like you someday soon. As I walked on planes, I could tell from people's looks that they were silently hoping I would not sit next to them LOL. It feels SO good to know I don't have to deal with such stares anymore and just know that I can actually fit in the seat!!! RELIEF!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
