I burp too regularly after eating and I'm 20 months out.. I take it as a sign that I'm full/possibly eating one spoonful too much - I've had hiccups also - watch that he isn't eating/drinking too fast also.

Agree with Selena Hay - hiccups, burping, runny nose are signs you are over full, and ate just a little too much. It means you have so much food stuffed in your stomach that your vagus nerve is irritated. I get a runny nose as my "overfull" reminder to eat slower and eat less next time.

I came on this morning to find out about hiccups because I have been getting them quite often. I have a follow up with my surgeon tomorrow and will find out for sure sheet they're all about.. One thing for sure is that yeah they're much more annoying than before being slewed.

I get hiccups too! I take it as my sign to stop eating.

could also be a vagal nerve stimulation, which is a nerve running right around our stomachs. not unusual, and happens when the stomach is 'full'.

i had hiccups terribly right after surgery but it let up within a couple days!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
