My surgery was 4 weeks ago today, so the feelings you're describing are familiar and pretty fresh for me. It's normal to be apprehensive about surgery, and I can't tell you there's a magic way to get rid of your fears. But it helped me to think about my new life after surgery, to think that after years and years of saying "I need to do something" about my weight, I finally was. I tried to relax and let the hospital staff and my family help me through the first few rough days.

I pray for a good outcome for you tomorrow. I'm still pretty new at this, but Im not sorry at all I finally had surgery.

Keep us posted on how you are and best wishes for a quick recovery.

mine was 8 days ago and the night before i had some serious doubts and self-induced panic. just keep reminding yourself WHY you are doing this. go through the routine exactly as they tell you. read as many hospital related threads on here that you can find. i felt like i went into surgery VERY informed and so nothing that has happened this far has been a surprise to me. that has made it incredibly easy for me! prayers for your procedure to go smoothly and an easy recovery!

It is only natural to feel apprehensive, experience fear and anxiety with any surgery. I think for me the biggest fear was anesthesia. Keep yourself busy..watch a good movie. THINK POSITIVE. Concentrate on the goodness that will result from having the surgery. Be prayful ..Ask your higher power for serenity. Before you know it ..The surgery will be over.

P.S. I did ask for a relaxer when I got to the hospital..also antinausea patch since I usually throw up after anesthesia. It will be all good. Blessings and a speedy recovery on your way

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
