mschacht 1 Posted July 1, 2014 I'm 2 weeks post op today from RnY and I have lost 31 lbs total. For the last few days though my weight has lingered at the same place on the scale...and no, I'm not neurotically weighing myself...is that normal to hit a little plateau so soon? Does anyone know why? Also, did you feel like you could advance your diet. Like this is my 2nd week of puréed and I think Friday I could try soft foods instead of waiting until Monday. I'm holding everything down just fine. Would that bother anything? Just curious...
terry1118 1,274 Posted July 1, 2014 A few days is not a 'plateau'. It could be Water retention, Constipation, or nothing at all. Relax and stay away from the scale for a week or so. I started my soft food stage 1 1/2 days early with no trouble, but I had an easy time following surgery with no issues or complications. That being said I would never advise anyone to go against their own doctor's instructions. They may have a reason for or against it so check with them first. :-)
Berlynn 5 Posted July 1, 2014 I hit a plateau at about 2 weeks and my scale didn't move for close to a month. I bounced up and down one pound for that entire time. My body continued to change. My surgeon said that is completely normal and don't worry about the number; be aware of the changes. The number will catch up in time. He was right. My advice is to follow the rules they've set for you. Success depends in it.
