Susanomic 13 Posted July 1, 2014 I went in this morning for mine.. I was having a band removed and GB done. About 5 hours after waking up, my surgeon told me that he only took the band out but nothing else. Apparently I had stomach erosion and a hard esophagus. Now I have to wait at least 6-8 months for everything to heal and then he will look at scar tissue to see if it's doable. Worst day ever.

jodie1961 77 Posted July 1, 2014 So sorry they weren't able to the RnY. But healing is a good thing, even when it isn't what we expected. Praying for a quick recovery and your next surgery as soon as possible. 4 caroline40, Ima Fox, eacarpenter and 1 other reacted to this
ChristyAZ 87 Posted July 1, 2014 I am so sorry to hear that you are having to go through this. At least you had the bad removed and will begin healing. I am sure it was devastating news but the time will past quick and hopefully in 6 months you can take the next step. I will send positive vibes your way! Susanomic 13 Posted July 1, 2014 Thank you all! I cried a whole bunch and am going through the "my life is over" phase. It'll pass, and I'll be ok. Hopefully in 6 months, everything will be healed. I am SO GLAD that damn band is gone though!!! Good riddance! 1 latido reacted to this

Lorraine Stanhope 23 Posted July 1, 2014 What a crappy thing to happen.. Be mad, cry anything that will relieve some of the anger over what you had your dreams based on. Bad enough the surgery part but the mental and emotional part is the pits. UGH. 6 months seems like such a long time to wait for the darn stuff to heal. We know it's the truth but our inner child is angry as anything this shouldn't be happening when we see others going through what seems to be seamless procedures and here we are stuck in this mess. I hope this makes you feel better. I had my procedure (bypass) last Monday. There was a setback in the recovery room where I threw up pure blood and was aggressively put back in the operating room where they put and endoscopic tool and implanted 3 metal clamps to stop the bleeding. Ho hum, meanwhile I'm OK now but when I see others with support systems at home it makes me wonder at times how come I'm not having a warm atmosphere to live in.
