You have come so far...why are the 15 lbs killing you....what did you have to lose in the first place....This is not a race hun. This is your life. Enjoy the ride and be proud of all you have accomplished and keep your goal in front of you but not the controlling factor in your life.

As long as you are on the program..It will happen. Maybe not today but maybe tomorrow.....meanwhile look yourself straight in the eye and tell your brain how far you have come.......

@RJ'S/beginning - 100% agree! the weight we lost was killing us... LOL!! i just came out of such a long stall... and just lost 6lbs - i was shocked - because i have only been losing 1/2 pound here & there - then nothing for some time...

If you are doing what your Dr & Nut have planned out for you, it will happen... maybe not as fast as you want - but it will. Good Luck & enjoy the new you!!

Yes! This is so true, and some days so hard to understand. I have somewhere between 15-20 pounds to go and I have committed myself to slow and steady. I was just not prepared for how SLOW that would feel. I know that the weight loss happens differently for everyone, and some people seem to reach their goals in a heartbeat. But I have to give myself a pep talk almost daily about how different my life is from last summer…especially when I can't see the difference myself.

See this comparing speed of weight loss is not healthy at all. I mean there are going to be a lot of individual things going on why do that to yourself so tell me once you reach your goal are you going to approach this differently and make this a conditional process. The last I checked this is supposed to be a permanent life style change. Meaning we have the rest of our lives to continue. So tell me why are people rushing this.

People are different. I think it's pretty natural to compare yourself to others going through the same thing. Not sure why you have to be judgmental when people are feeling frustrated. Everyone is entitled to their feelings and I think it's pretty normal to feel impatient after undergoing surgery and dramatically changing your life.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
