Weight loss? What weight loss?

Recommended Posts

Ok, I was a bit of a stinker, messing with a couple people this week :). Early in the week I ran into a client in the post office. He is kind of creepy, always smells of liquor (even at work) and one of those guys you can never get away from once he starts talking. When he saw me, he said "wow, you look so different, what have you done?" I explained I just got a hair cut. (Which I did). My mom was coming for a visit and she hates my long scraggly hair so I got it cut short just for her. He kept going back to the "you look so different" and I kept going on about how much I like my haircut, until I could finally drag myself out to my truck. (with him following me all the way....creepo!)

Well that was so much fun, the next day, when another client asked if I had lost weight, I simply said "no, but I sure wish I could". They just stared at me like a deer in the headlights and didn't say anything else. It was all my partner could do to not laugh out loud.

I know it's a little mean, but hey, my surgery and weight loss and adventures in diarrhea and fecal transplant have been a topic of interest and entertainment for others for so long I thought I should reap some of the entertainment value, too.

That's funny. I'm actually not planning on telling anyone I got this done, so when they ask 100 lbs from now, I'm just going to say Weight Watchers worked really well this time. It might be a little bit like stolen valor/taking credit for something that's not mine, but I figured with all the efforts I've put into diets over the previous years I've "earned" it many times over.......

(if that makes any sense)

Skywalker. You are following a diet plan. You don't have to mention WLS but you are being completely honest with stating you are focused on getting enough Protein, drinking enough liquid and watching your portion sizes. :)

I am preop but following a stricter diet that is more in line with how I will be eating post VSG. I am already losing weight and if people ask I just tell them I am following a plan through my nutritionist. Which is true!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
