I've only been home since yesterday evening but today had 2 episodes of loose stool. How much do you have to be having to show concern. I'm on all liquids so it's kinda hard to think I would have solid bm,s. Any thoughts

I was asked if I had a BM. I said, yes, based on the fact that the 'stuff' came from the required place :-) It basically was just sediment in the toilet bowl

My surgery was on Wednesday and I've had nothing but air pass through my bowels and I'm ready for something... anything at this point to break loose, lol. I feel very bloated and gassy still, although much less painful than the gas had been on Thurs/Fri. I was discharged a little more than 24 hours after my surgery and they never asked me if I did anything other than pass gas. I'm still hoping for something to happen sometime soon. But like you, I'm still on all liquids so I'm not expecting much. Please feel free to "friend me" as I'm new to this group and looking to make contacts to share information with and encourage along this new journey! God Bless!

When concerned about something you should call your surgeons office.

Now that that's said I will tell you my experience and that is I had loose bowels for the time I got home and until I got more solid foods in me.

I know that that's a horrible idea that you might have the same thing but each individual is different and their body reacts differently.

So again I will say when concerned ask your surgeons office about it.

They will have the best answers.

Feel better.

Hi had my surgery the 25th of this month, I started Saturday with the lose stool like you said watery. I did not know I had this much stuff in me. I see my surgeon today so I will be mentioning this. I think this is normal things just coming back to life.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
