Hello! I too am a post op girl, just beginning my 4th day with this new lifestyle. How are you feeling? I'm still having trouble laying or sitting comfortably because of the gas bubbles. How are you doing with this? I have had little to no hunger which is very different for me. Nice to meet you and feel free to write back at anytime.

Congratulations! My surgery is scheduled for tomorrow, and I can't wait to be able to say the same thing!

Hi NewJulie! Good luck on your surgery tomorrow! Are you having the bypass or gastric sleeve?

I am walking most of the time, so the gas is almost not an issue. The problem I have is he flying abdomen, feels like it will rip apart in any position that I attempt. So I haven't slept in forever, and still can't work up the courage to cough.

I did a lot of walking while I was in the hospital and it didn't seem to make a difference in my gas issues. I still feel like I need to pass gas all the time, lol. I'm not really sure what you mean by the flying abdomen, hehe. I've coughed basically since I was in recovery, and I was hesitant but it's not that bad. I still haven't gone #2 and was wondering if you have had issues with this also.

When I move, I feel a swirling/swishing of my inside flying from right to left, and wobbling back. I swear it feels like my intestines/organs are swimming around. It is gross and so painful. Regarding # 2, I had a miracle yesterday before I was discharged. I felt the urge, and something (tmi) did splat its way out from the appropriate place :-) basically just a teaspoon of sediment on the bottom of the toilet.

I got home yesterday from bypass and I'm having the Water bm issue. Between trying to get rid of the gas and bm I've lost control of my bm's twice. Very loose stool. Wondering how long it will take to form considering we are on am liquids. I also ended up having a large hiatal hernia as well. Coughing isn't too bad if you put a pillow on your belly.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
