I'm 11 days post up, and I have to ask about these symptoms. The pain of surgery is gone, but I'm so unsteady that I can barely do anything. I can get out and walk some, but definitely not clear-headed enough to drive. Most of the time I feel very drunk, and all I've had is Water. it might get a little better after some rest, but it never goes away completely. I'm trying to stay hydrated and keep up with Protein needs. I tried walking heel-toe on a straight line (classic DUI test), and failed miserably.

No real nausea, no throwing up, just fatigue and spinning head.

Help, please. :-(

Are you still on your blood sugar medications? You can be hypoglycemic. You should definitely have your blood sugar checked . Borrow somebody's if you have to.

Make sure to discuss this with your surgeon. He may want to review your current medications and hydration status . Feel better

it could also be you are clearing anesthesia VERY slowly. it is not uncommon. i would call my surgeons office and just run it by the doc on call...janet is also on the right track, could be a sugar issue if you aren't intaking anything but Water.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
