What did you do with the lose skin afterwards?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I know this should be the last of my worries but it plagues me. How soon after the Gastric Sleeve were you able to work out?

Did you get much lose skin? What did you do afterwards and how much did it cost to get the skin removed?

Thank you,

Lisa

I was only able to walk...i think at 4 or 6weeks i was cleared to do other excercises!! I dnt think lose skin is goin to be an option for me maybe my arms a little bit....my focus at the gym has been walking, cycling and arm weights!! I lost almost 80 pounds with the lapband and I had no loose skin but now that i gained weight i notice my arms are not tone...im goin to try bodywraps and arm weights

I haven't had my surgery yet, but my current plan for loose skin is to stitch it together like a flying squirrel and fly around. I think the surgery would basically pay for itself by saving on gas commuting to work.

Otherwise, I'm not really worried about it. If loose skin is the price I pay for a healthier future, I'm okay with that. :)

I'm planning to shove it all into a pair of Spanx and call it a day. Unfortunately, that's not an option for my arm flab, but for that I might try kd5wzr's plan.

The good news is that your surgeon will want you walking and up and about ASAP after the surgery. So even if that walk is only 5 minutes before you feel exhausted you can start exercising via a walk, right away. Five days post op I was cleared for general cardio - treadmill, stationary bike, elliptical - nothing too robust. No high impact or anything. After 6 weeks you are clear to lift weights. If you are worried about skin, lifting weights is what you want to concentrate on. While it will not take care of all the loose skin, lifting weights will help build muscles and tighten up some of the loose skin. For everything else, well, that's why they make Shapewear.< /p>

A lot concerning loose skin has to do with age and genetics. My sister had surgery and actually had a Tummy Tuck and her arms done for the loose skin, but her legs actually tightened up quite nicely. It's a lot of money for surgery and I don't know that I would ever do my arms because its a toss up on whether that scar is any better than the loose hanging from the arms.

At photo925....yu are so correct!! My stomach is flat and no need for a tummy tuck, im concerned with my arms but I wouldnt want the scar, i guess i will have to weigh my options

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
