It's very normal. Your body has been thru surgery and will take a bit to get moving again. It was 3rd day before I had a bowel movement and if you've been on a liquid diet prior to surgery, you still may not have a bowel movement for a while. I was not in a liquid diet prior to my surgery in May 23 and being in nothing but liquids afterwards, well....movements were nothing but luquid.

I had surgery on the 23rd so I'm 5 days post op and still no bm. I was on liquid 2 weeks prior to surgery too! If you feel constipated then keep taking your softeners otherwise just wait for it to come. Lol I've heard some ppl that go 11 days without a bm. I've also heard people drinking Smooth Move tea and that helps them but make sure it doesn't have caffeine in it ( my doc says no caffeine) good luck!! I'm waiting with ya! Haha

It happens to just about everyone. But it sure a sh1t (pun intended) isnt normal.

take some clear soluble Fiber and keep doing the stool softner.

I wasny doing either and went a week and a half without a bowel movement. When I finally went it was seriously painful and abnormally large. It really made me scared to eat or go again.

My doc suggested liquid Phillips milk of magnesia. The first time I took it nothing and he said because I had nothing in my system. Then when I hit real food I had one. The first one hurt and because of the little food amounts I sometimes still need the Phillips.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
