He reason I am obese is because I loved to eat. I love to eat Hamburgers my most favorite meal and French fries. I loved fried chicken and mashed potatoes with gravy. Oh don't leave out the Mac and cheese. I loved pizza oh my gosh extra cheese and cheese bread. I could name all the stuff unhealthy that I loved it would take a while. I loved it and that's what I ate.

I hated food that was good for me. You know grilled chicken or baked fish. Vegetables not loaded in butter. salad that was not over flowing with ranch dressing. The things that would help me I hated. I would rather had not eaten the. To eat it.

Then there were always the diets yes those. The diets of salad with a spoon of dressing. The no red meat only turkey. The no bread or carbs. They would work I would lose a few pounds and then I would go somewhere and see cake. You guessed it I would eat cake. My doctor put me on a diet one time and said quit smoking at the same time. I didn't lose a pound at that diet.

So I oped for the sleeve 4/25/14 I have been told how you can diet like my son did. You should go to the gym and work out. You need to change what you were eating. I want to scream I have done that for 45 years and it did not work. Call me what you want but I LOVE food!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I since having the sleeve have lost from 259 pre surgery to 210 today. I am proud of that and at 4'9" tall it is hard to hide 259 pounds.

I love rotisserie chicken and pork chops. I have pinned recipes from pintrest for my sleeve. I gave up soda ( would drink a twelve pack a day). I do drink one glass of sweet tea a day. Other than that Powerade zero or g2 Gatorade. I love my new life that this surgery is giving me. It was a slow start but I will get there.

Amen.

If it were as easy as diet and exercise, I wouldn't have needed the surgery.

I am finding that, already, that my yearnings for the "good stuff" are lessening. Not gone, but it is not the agony of the pre-opp diet.

Losing weight was easy. Keeping it off, not so much. I hope the sleeve will help me accomplish that part more successfully. Surgery is day after tomorrow-can't wait to start the journey with you all.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
