Stephnance 8 Posted June 28, 2014 (edited) Used to be a smoker, but recently stopped because of this surgery. I feel better now; but do still have the Urge from time to time! Edited June 29, 2014 by Stephnance
Kfree401 16 Posted June 28, 2014 I am a smoker and have set a goal to quit before I get sleeved. I want to lose this weight because I want to be a healthier version of me! Just can't see going through all this and continuing the dreadful, stinky, expense, socially unacceptable habit! Sound like I'm ready? 2 Stephnance and ProudGrammy reacted to this
hawaii_josh 30 Posted June 28, 2014 My surgeon required at least 2 months nicotine-free before he would operate, so I had to plan ahead to make sure I met his requirements. I quit on February 25th and have surgery scheduled for July 8th. Couldn't be happier to consider myself a non-smoker now! 3 ProudGrammy, #9grammy and Stephnance reacted to this
Ava324 413 Posted June 28, 2014 I've been a social smoker, but nothing regular. Since surgery I switched to e-cigs. I was actually getting more nicotine than before, which is a big no-no. Apparently because of an increased ulcer risk. I use nicotine-free "juice" now.
SandyM 1,956 Posted June 28, 2014 I smoked for years and gave it up when my my died of heart disease at 54 years of age. I use to miss it, but now, its just one more thing I'm grateful to not want. I'm looking forward to junk food fitting into that slot as well and it is happening, slowly but surely. 2 Leepers and terrydumont46 reacted to this
Leepers 1,195 Posted June 28, 2014 I officially quit smoking 6 years ago. Since then, I occasionally would smoke when I drank alcohol. Lately though I've been struggling with wanting to smoke more. Possibly trading one addiction for another? I'm fighting with myself because I really do want to be healthy. 1 terrydumont46 reacted to this
superbariatricbabe 180 Posted June 28, 2014 Quit smoking on the day that the surgeon said he wouldn't operate on anyone who uses nicotine products. I gained 8-10 lbs when I quit. >_< I've had a few moments of weakness, but overall I'm staying strong. it's rough. I loved smoking. But now I love breathing easier. Dreamin Again 112 Posted June 29, 2014 I was a smoker but quit January 2013. I had tried many times to quit in the past. I heard about a book called Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking (Amazon $7.99). I read all the reviews and decided that for that price I should give it a try. I smoked my last cigarette right before I finished the book. I don't know why but this worked when I couldn't do it on my own. Good luck to anyone trying to quit, it's a hard habit to break.
