My 2week pre-op diet consists of 2-3 Protein shakes, 2 Protein Bars under 200 cal. & (for dinner) 6 oz. lean Protein, 1cup cooked or 2cups raw veggies &. 1/2 cup starch.

If I don't get creative, I will be eating chicken kabobs for 2 weeks straight!

Any good, creative ideas on what to make for those dinner meals?

Sorry, can't help you with fancy recipes.....I did 2 weeks of 3 Protein Shakes and leafy green veggies only. I was able to substitute broth with added unflavored Protein Powder for one shake/day but that's it. You really lucked out on your preop...it should be a breeze. Good luck.

I personally moved away from creative cooking when starting my preop diet. Just try sticking to the basics. It helps when you get to the post op diet because there isnt much room to be creative. The less fun you make eating the easier it is not to crave things.

Great advice! I really do need to take the "fun" out of food. That's what got me here in the first place.

My pre op diet is all liquid with 3 Protein Shakes a day and unlimited broth. I can also have some sugar free popsicles, Jello, pudding, and drinks. Nothing chewable.

I love this recipe. 1 pound turkey sausage browned and drained in a large skillet. One you have a lid for.

Add 1 1/2 cups sliced potatoes.

Top with 3 cups shredded cabbage and sprinkle on Italian seasoning. I use about 2 tbsp.

add about 1/2 c Water. Put the lid on and turn on med and steam. Stir occasionally and cook until potatoes are tender and cabbage is cooked. This makes 3 servings. Each time you reheat it gets better!!

Gingerslim try couple of these:

tuna sushi grade on a grill

3 minutes each side should leave it raw in center

Then serve over either dole asian chopped salad

Or various raw julienned vegetables of your choice

Ground turkey- 93%lean

Brown with 2-3 cloves garlic, 1 medium yellow onion and bell pepper of your choice

Drain

Add Tomato sauce to cover - I use 4 ounces to 1 pound

Add basil, oregano, cilantro to taste

Add Water about equal amount to tomato sauce

Add 10-15 green olives and a little brine

Simmer until liquid cooks down. About 25 minutes

Serve over quinoa (back in the day I served over rice).

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
