tiggr6199 12 Posted June 27, 2014 Hi all I had my RNY on June 24th. All has gone as I expected to,gas pains surgical pain, etc. The only real problem I had was Fluid retention. My urine output was so low that I had the catheter for an extra day and had to stay in the hospital for an extra day. I also have gained 10 pounds since the surgery. I am guessing it is Fluid. Has anyone experienced this and how do you get rid of the excess fluid? Thanks.
Chelly 364 Posted June 28, 2014 The Fluid is from the IV. It will leave your body in a week or so. Keep drinking your Water and it will help flush your system.

It will be hard to get enough Water down but all that extra fluid will keep you hydrated for a few days. Like the previous poster said, give it about a week and it will flush. lisad97411 5 Posted June 30, 2014 Dr told me not to weigh for a big. A weight gain is expected from surgery and fluids. One week out I am losing weight now.
