mike5232 22 Posted June 27, 2014 Something I just figured out that I thought I would share. Along with a ton of walking I have been doing post op, I have figured out that if you sit on your toilet, and very slowly rotate your torso back and forth just a little bit (causing no pain), this really helps get rid of the gas. If you are having problems with this, give it a try. 1 Sparklingbeauty53 reacted to this

mike5232 22 Posted July 16, 2014 Ok Boppin.........you asked. I was out of my bed walking around the halls two hours after coming out of recovery. I made sure that I used the morphine pump, at its fullest to pull this off. I set the timer on my cell phone to make sure I walked EVERY hour, even if I was sleeping. I had read enough to understand that the walking was the key. If have had an unbelievably good experience, and I believe the walking was key.. Stay all over the morphine pump though, no reason to be a martyr ..... 2 Sparklingbeauty53 and SugarFreeMe reacted to this
Boppin' Bubbe 32 Posted July 17, 2014 Ok Boppin.........you asked. Thank you for the tips. I can be martyrish, having already been through lap band and 2 knee replacements. I will push that button!! One of the knees is broken now so I walk with a cane. I guess they can give me a walker and I'll be boppin' for sure! I like your suggestions. They are frank and honest!! I am 64 and want it real! How have you done with food so far? What was the hardest thing when you returned home? Have have you dealt with small sips and getting enough Fluid? I am a guzzler but am already working on small sips. Thanks again!
NewLife4Me7 110 Posted July 17, 2014 Boppin I'm a guzzler too. I thought sipping would be so hard but it's not to bad. I'm on my 2week pre-op diet surgery date is 7/30.
mike5232 22 Posted July 17, 2014 Guzzling was my style also. Same thing, I used my timer on my phone. I started setting it for every 12 minutes, and then moved it to every 8 minutes. This helped me get into the habit of making sure I am drinking all of the time. I also used a medicine cup for the first week, to train my mind how much Water I should be putting in my mouth. So in summary, park yourself somewhere, fill up a sports bottle, set your timer for whatever time you prefer to get your water. When the timer goes off, pour the water from the sports bottle into the medicine cup, and drink that amount.......then reset timer. Use this system, and you WILL stay hydrated, unless your pouch doesn't like water........ I am and have been getting at least 80 oz per day. 3 weeks post op yesterday. Down 46 lbs!!!!! Sparklingbeauty53 202 Posted July 17, 2014 My great tip: I made Crystal Light double strength ice cubes. I made them with my favorite flavor and I popped them in while watching tv and they melt in your mouth. Double strength because the ice doesn't have enough flavor otherwise but that gets the liquid in slowly...and helps get the liquid down in the beginning when it is so hard. sugar free popsicles are great too.. Ginger Snaps 1,323 Posted July 17, 2014 One thing my doctor told me after c-sections is that even sitting in a rocking chair and rocking can help move the gas out. I guess any movement that shifts your chest/body around can help. But, I agree -- walking is probably the best thing to do.
