I just saw a commercial for them and thought, "Wow, that sounds awesome!!!!" I'm wondering though, if anyone knows how many carbs are in them?

I have a box of Cheerios Protein Cinnamon Almond in my hands. Soy Protein ISOLATE is 3rd on the list of ingredients. The first 2 ingredients are whole grain oats and sugar. The serving size is 1 1/4c. Total fat: 4.5g; Total carbs: 40g broken down into 3 subcategories: Dietary fiber: 3g; Sugars 16g; Other Carbohydrates: 21g. Protein 7g. My take on it is that there is way too much sugar/carbs in it! I couldn't eat it now because I am pre-op diabetic. After surgery I wouldn't eat it because of the number of carbs. I'd be afraid of gaining weight on it. Protein comes FIRST, then veggies, and last, carbs.

I probably won't use that product, but didn't the commercial say "with milk" (which would be 1/2 of the Protein gram total without even touching the Cereal. Besides, grain is what my grandfather - a farmer - fed to the chickens, hogs, and cattle to "fatten them up". So........no grains for me right now - just Proteins, low carb veggies, and 1/2 serving a fruit per day. I am trying really hard to keep the carbs below 20. This is so much work, but 800 calories and 20 carbs is the barrier that I can't go past right now or I start gaining weight back. Yeah, no.......cereal (high Protein or not) has to stay in the background for me.

I wanted to look at them, but now I know the stats I will forget it. My guidelines given my NUT / hospital said not more than 7g sugar in a serving of anything. So right there is too much. Then you look at the carbs and it is just way too much. It may be a good idea for folks who are "average" and do not need to monitor things as closely as we do. But it would be a slippery slope to get a box and eat. Pass...

See Cheerios has a product with 50 grams of Protein. 50! Has anyone tried them?

50 grams?? I thought they said 10 on the commercial, and that's including milk! Checked the store the other day and they only have 7 grams per serving. Cereal is off the menu for me until I reach goal, anyway. Way too many carbs!!

Agree with everyone else. It may have plenty of Protein, but it also has carbs and sugar and isn't one if the foods we should be eating until we have better control over our diets, not our diets controlling us. Of course it would be a great alternative to, say, something like ice cream when we may have a sweet tooth we just can't seem to satisfy. I'd say stay away from the Cheerios for now....wait to add then to your diet when you're done losing. They aren't going anywhere...they've been around far too long.

I think if you get to your goal and want to *stay* there, you'd be better off to stay away from it entirely. Use Sweet N' Low for cold items, Splenda to cook with.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
