Had my surgery on June 10 and went for my two week follow-up today. Told me to stay on liquids another week before I start mushy foods. He said that week 3 is the one that really gets people because they are feeling good and think they can try more than just liquid. I've lost 24 pounds to date so I'm not going to chance it! I had a lapband to sleeve revision. The lapband caused a lot of scar tissue to form on my stomach so he said its vital that I stay on liquids for a full 3 weeks.

Sounds like good advice - and I have to say, I've never once regretted doing what my doc said in terms of protocol. Each case is different of course, but erring on caution's side sounds wise. Hang in there - with a loss that significant you'll do great and maybe skip the dreaded 3 week stall. I sure wish I'd lost that much my first two weeks!! Way to go!

I'm also a band to sleeve, my surgery was 6/18. My dr has ok'd really soft foods 4 days after surgery. I didn't have a lot of scar tissue but my port was the issue and that incision site/area is still tender. I feel so much better now that the band is gone how about you?

I feel so much better now that's gone too. I forgot what it felt like for food to actually hit my stomach. I can't believe you had a revision and your doctor has already ok'd soft foods. Only Soups that can go through a strainer and Protein drinks for me till next Tuesday!

I know the feeling of food actually staying down is great. I am on really soft food yogurt, puréed Soup, Jello and Protein Shakes.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
