First fill less than 4 weeks out?

Recommended Posts

My surgery was June 3 and my doctor has scheduled my first fill for tomorrow. I wasn't expecting a fill until 6 weeks post-op. At my first post-op visit, told her I was experiencing hunger, but I was still on full liquids at that point.

Anyone else have a fill this early? Was it beneficial or did you think it was too soon?

There are many different modes to getting fills and it mostly goes by the surgeon's office. If you feel that you do not need the fill then hold off until you feel that you are hungry between meals and can't make it 3-4 hours between.

If you are good, feeling "hunger" is important, as well as understanding the type of hunger you are experiencing. If it's head hunger or actual hunger and need to fuel the body. Talk to your doc when you see them next and come to a determination together.

I had mine at 5 weeks and was very happy about it. I think you'll be fine if youre already experiencing hunger.

Do you think you're ready? What kind of foods are you on?

My first fill was at exactly four weeks. Up until three and a half weeks I thought I might not need it, but that was when the hunger returned. Good timing for me! Good luck with all -- you're doing great!

In the surgeons office, everything for the fill on the counter. I'm excited about this!

I've been on puréed foods for a week, so not looking forward to Clear Liquids again, but it's temporary.

Thank you all for replying...I feel better about this!

Surgery was June 12, first follow up appt was June 22. My surgeon told me he wanted to see me again in 3 more weeks, and if all was well then, he would schedule my first fill 2 weeks after that. Ugh. Seems like a long time to wait. I haven't lost any weight since week 1 post-op. I'm following the diet I was given, and walking between 2-5 miles per day. I'm frustrated.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
