walking and moving. that is really the ONLY thing that helps. i have been trying to get up and move at least every hour since i've been home. move as much as you can, even if it's a couple laps around your home dwelling.

it generally takes up to a week to excrete laproscopic gas totally. hang in there!

Walk walk walk. You have to walk around to move the gas through your body... And drink lots of Water. Gas went away in 4 days for me. Best of luck!

I bought a box of GasX strips. It was recommended on a list I read of things you need. Sending healing vibes. Get well soon.

How is everything going? Make sure you keep lotion (no fragrances) on your tummy to help heal and preventing too much scarring. Swelling will go down too.. Along with your tummy! It's such a great feeling. My stomach fat was the first noticeable difference.

I'm doing well.. Had an emotional day yesterday just feeling overwhelmed but woke up today got through it and just pacing myself in healing. Yes I've been putting cream and notion on my incisions but keeps wearing off with my clothing, do you do anything to make sure the cream stays on? like cover with gauze? I cant imagine that would be recommended as we'd want to let it breathe.. just curious..

and enough bout me..how are things with you?

I'm doing well... I just rub lotion on and keep my shirt off for a few minutes. ;) and rub it in really well... Don't put lotion on open wounds though... Do you have a drain hole? That took the longest to heal for me. Then I have 4 small incisions that had surgical glue on them. That'll stay on for a couple weeks and slowly peel off as you heal. It's easy as pie now.... Just had some tofu. Went down well! I take in about 400-500 calories a day. Make sure you get Protein before anything!!! We should exchange email addresses. Id like to keep in touch! :-)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
