mummakeyz 1 Posted June 25, 2014 hey guy, so today I am 5 days post op, finally took of the dreaded compression stockings.....! yay so happy about that - and took off the plaster type bandages as that's what my instruction letter states to do, but I have this tape on top of the incisions not sure if I am supposed to take these off also? don't really want t mess around with them to much - I have cleaned the areas around the sutures but am scared to get to close, I also had some bleeding from the biggest one shortly after the op I guess this was caused by me moving around not long after surgery but I was advised to do sonot to worried but the blood and glue looks like it will come of with the tape!! not sure what to do - please let me know what you may have done and time frame before you took yours off or if you did at all? thanks you look forward to your reply
busylady344 1 Posted June 25, 2014 I am 6 weeks post-op. My doctor told me to leave the steri-strips on and that they would fall off by themselves. He wanted them to stay on for about 2 weeks, so he told me to take short showers as the Water will cause them to loosen. At exactly 2 weeks, the first strip fell off. Over the next week, the others fell off so that by 3 weeks they were all off. The adhesive left glue smudges on my skin, which took another 3 weeks to finally come clean. Hope this helps.
