Zane's Mom 184 Posted June 25, 2014 Hello. I am 8 days post op and love this site. What I never considered is what about fruits??? Please let me know if all fruits are okay and tolerated or is anything taboo??? There is nothing in my patient materials specifically about it. I used to make my family the puréed frozen fruit with the dessert bullet ( my machine is called Yo Nanas). It is 100% fruit and makes it to the consistency of ice cream. We all love it. I know it's supposed to be Protein Protein protein but please give me some insight on fruits. Thanks.
Monarch1966 4 Posted June 25, 2014 According to my NUT - not until at least 3 months because you wont tolerate very well. But it is good for the future!
Forsythia 882 Posted June 25, 2014 I was allowed to have pureed fruit (think like baby food - applesauce, pureed mangoes etc) right away. Once on the softs I was allowed canned or frozen fruits. Canned fruit had to be packed in Water or juice (not syrup), but you should not drink the juice.< /p>
Bufflehead 6,358 Posted June 25, 2014 I wasn't allowed any fruit until 2 months out because of the carbs and needing to focus on Protein.< /p> From 2 months through 6 months I could have soft fruit (soft enough to cut with a fork) but only after eating protein and it still had to fit within my max 60 carbs per day. So in reality I didn't eat much fruit at all even when it was permitted.
par1959 470 Posted June 25, 2014 I have been eating fruit since the sqishy part of the diet on day 14. No problems with any of it. Keep in mind to eat Protein first and fruit is a carbo.
Sharpie 3,306 Posted June 25, 2014 You did not indicate which type of surgery you had.. I had a lapband and I eat fruit daily. once you are cleared to begin regular foods you can eat your Protein first, veg's then fruit.. no special deal with the band. I sometimes have applesauce but not because I have to just because I like it. Your band will let you know what you can tolerate.
