Hi Sleevers.

So, i've lost about 125 lbs since my 3 week pre-op diet 7 months ago and i'm feeling really great about life in general. My mood is great, my outlook is amazing, and my quality of life has gone way, way WAY up. i'm doing things that I haven't done in about 10 years. I'm going to start hiking and mountain biking (like on actual mountain trails).

The ONLY drawback I have experienced has been hair loss. Now, my hair was starting to thin out a bit before the surgery but about 2 months out, it started coming out A LOT. I know it's supposed to grow back after the weight loss is complete, but will my hair grow back even though it was starting to thin anyway? I imagine i'm going to have a bald spot in a few years, but I was hoping to have my hair for a while after I reach my goal weight (for a little while at least...lol).

I'm still pre-op and had a dream last night that I ended up being bald after surgery. I'm not talking a little spot, bald above the ears and with a shiny top like a guy. It sounds petty, but losing my hair is my top concern about having surgery. I used to have super thick hair and for the last 5 years it has been getting noticeably thinner on the top. Would be a cruel irony since I have too much hair in other places. I guess if I end up needing a wig, it's still better than being fat.

The most frustrating thing IS the Hair loss. I have (had) super thick hair. Fallout is bad - real bad. I'm just over 3 months post so I'm fearful it will get worse. I hate this part - the unknown! I'm down 75 though and also riding a bike again so I'm right there with you in how great life is. Trade off I guess.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
