Gas pains worse with everything

Recommended Posts

I had my band placed on the 23rd. My gas is awful. It's in my abdomen, chest, shoulder. Walking makes it worse, fluids make it worse. Only thing that helps is laying down on my side. I'm taking Gasx and mylicon. How long did everyone's gas last for? Any other ideas I can try to ease the pains? I knw my surgeon says walking is best but it just makes my stomach all crampy and not let the gas go anywhere.

I want to say the bad gas lasted 4 to 5 days. It hurt so bad, and I know it is different with everyone. You will get through this I know you will. Best of luck on your new adventure.

Mine was about 9 days...I just kept trying to walk it off...then turned the heating pad on the worst areas. Did you get pain meds?

Yes i got pain meds but don't really want to take them. I did take half a dose just now cuz the pain was too unbearable. Trying to keep my head up and positive thoughts but it ain't easy when the pain is this high. Def still worth it tho.

The meds will get you through the worst of it. No need to suffer if you don't have to. The first few days are the roughest. It does get better ...just hang in there ;-)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
