Texas Moon 12 Posted June 25, 2014 My doctor recommends a daily Vitamin after I'm sleeved. He mentioned chewable but I just wonder if anyone has taken the gummy vitamins & if those go down well??
NYCkindofgirl 62 Posted June 25, 2014 My nutritionist said "no gummies". I never asked why, and purchased the opurity Vitamins on the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury website. They tasted pretty good, too! 1 betty_s reacted to this
XXShelXX 346 Posted June 25, 2014 That's so strange that they are all different. My nut suggested gummies because they are more easily absorbed and I'd be more likely to take them. She was right, I take em everyday. All my Vitamins are Gummy now except the Biotin which is the consistency of taffy. 1 NYCkindofgirl reacted to this
ejjohn 12 Posted June 25, 2014 My doctor said no gummies too, but the Bariatric Advantage chewables i could not keep down. I took gummies until I got to where I could take capsules. He was not happy. Bariatric Advantage has capsules that don't make me instantly barf. I still get a little nauseated but at least it doesn't come back up. I take those now
Scylla 106 Posted June 25, 2014 My surgeon and my NUT both said no gummies because if you compare them they don't contain nearly the same amount of Vitamins that chewables do. 2 betty_s and NYCkindofgirl reacted to this
Texas Moon 12 Posted June 25, 2014 Ahhh ok, makes sense. The surgeon never said no gummies. I'll double check with the NUT.
betty_s 476 Posted June 25, 2014 I was in pre-op seminar, so vsg, rny, and band info, and they told us all NO to gummies. they're missing 3 Vitamins you need. they recommended Flinstones complete, so thats what i've been using. My surgeon and my NUT both said no gummies because if you compare them they don't contain nearly the same amount of Vitamins that chewables do.
LumpySpacePrincess 594 Posted June 25, 2014 My NUT and surgeon insisted on no gummies for the multi-Vitamins because they don't contain essential minerals. They told me two Flintstone's chewables per day is more than enough. They did say Gummy Calcium was OK, though. If anyone is looking for a really good Calcium, I do recommend the BlueBonnet brand of liquid calcium. It actually tastes really fantastic and you can mix it into your shakes post-op to make sure you're getting it in. 1 #9grammy reacted to this
Texas Moon 12 Posted June 25, 2014 Thanks so much!! Glad I asked!! My NUT did say no gummies after surgery!! Same response ... it doesn't contain all the necessary nutrients needed postoperatively. 1 #9grammy reacted to this
