Guys, I am a skeptic, but I decided to try to get my pre op and post op Protein shakes and Vitamins covered by my insurance through insurenutrition.com and guess what??? I was approved and received my first shipment today!

4 cases of 18 premier Protein Shakes and a month's supply of liquid vitamins!!!

No copay, no shipping & handling! Freeeeeee

They will continue to deliver once a month during my prescription period. (Must renew with your surgeon every 7 months!) :)

I just filled out the info. How long did it take for you to get approved? Did you have to call your surgeon r does the site take care of everything?

The entire process took about 2 weeks. I called my surgeon's office and gave them a head's up that insurenutrition would be faxing them a form to fill out. My surgeon was more than happy to oblige and is happy to be able to refer his clients to this awesome resource! I would call insure directly with specific coverage or process questions. They are quite helpful! Good luck! :)

Omg. I hope I get approved for insure nutrition. Im still very early in this process but I've switch from EAS shakes to Premier Protein. I have one more appt to complete my 3 month weight loss trial and my initial appt with surgeon is aug 1st. I actually did it backward. Weight loss trial before surgeon appt. Im so excited and ready to be on the losers bench. Thanks for this info.

All they want to know is if you want to add on some kind of scar cream if its also covered. That's it. Then 2 days later I got an email saying my insurance didn't cover it. They haven't bothered me since. Go ahead and call. You can say yes or no to the cream. Good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
