cmayorga 0 Posted June 24, 2014 Hello everyone I am new here and wanted to reach out to others that have had the Kaiser experience in NorCal. I have 3 lbs to go in order to get my surgery date and its frustrating GRRRR going to the gym 5-6 times a day and changed what I eat and still need 3 more lbs. Wanted to see how everyone's experience was a Kaiser and if the process movies any further once you loss the weight your surgeon requires. Thanks CM
mommaof3 39 Posted June 25, 2014 Hi, I had surgery at Kaiser Fremont on 4/30/13. The process was pretty fast for me. I spoke to the surgeon on 2/4/13, lost my required weight plus more, had psych evaluation and spoke to a nurse who reviewed my file the same day and she gave it to the surgeon for final approval and was given a call about a week after with a date. You can call and schedule a psych evaluation now because you are within 5 lbs. of your required weight loss. That was my experience. Hope yours goes as fast! I have had a great experience with Kaiser Fremonts Bariatric program so far. I wish you the best on your weight loss journey!
anniehip 14 Posted October 29, 2014 Did you have to complete that yellow questionnaire?
mommaof3 39 Posted October 29, 2014 Yes, if it's the one I think your referring to. It asks questions about info given in the Orientation packets and it is usually given around Psych Evaluation time. Hope that helps.
anniehip 14 Posted October 29, 2014 Did you pass? The medical assistant called me yesterday and told me that I missed 4 out of 17. I will have to do it again...WTF!
mommaof3 39 Posted October 29, 2014 Yes, all the answers are in the packets. They want to make sure that you read and understand all the information given to you. If you don' t have your packet they have an online one at KP.org Fremont Bariatric Department.
Susan909 52 Posted October 30, 2014 Wow! I'm with Kaiser So. Cal. I got my surgery date yesterday. I had to complete a three month options program. Basically it was nutrition info. We were encouraged to lose 10% which I did and some extra. Many in my class did not and are still getting surgery. No psych evaluation required at all. My surgery is Dec. 3rd. Seven months from start to end. I hope it gets better for you.
